There is a specific kind of Saturday that only exists in the Western Ghats between June and September: you leave Pune at 5am, you are wet by 7, and by 10 you are standing on a 17th-century fort wall watching a waterfall get blown back up the cliff by the wind.
Start here if it's your first monsoon trek
- Rajmachi — two forts, one plateau, and the fireflies if you time late May right.
- Visapur — the flattest hard trek in Maharashtra. The rock staircase becomes a waterfall.
- Andharban — a descent through dense forest that earns its name, 13 km, mostly downhill.
- Harishchandragad — do not attempt Konkan Kada in heavy rain, do attempt everything else.

The rules that keep people alive here
The Sahyadris kill more trekkers per season than the Himalaya do, and almost none of it is altitude. It is waterfall pools, selfie edges and groups that started too late.
Before you book
Whoever you go with, ask the same three questions: what is the group size, who is the lead guide on your specific departure, and what exactly happens if the weather turns. Any operator worth your weekend will answer all three in one message, without hedging.
Every agency listed on TrackYourTour publishes its cancellation terms, guide-to-traveller ratio and verified reviews on the package page itself — so you can compare the answers side by side instead of chasing them over calls.
Dev covers coastlines, backwaters and the parts of South India that never make the shortlist. Based in Kochi, usually damp.
